Unit 2: Rome and Early Christianity
These are 5 lessons from Unit 2, which focus upon Rome and Early Christianity. The lessons demonstrate how Rome grew from a small town on the banks of the Italian river into a large empire which controlled the Mediterranean region. We will look into how governmental and social problems led to the end of the Roman Republic and the create of a new form of government. Students will learn how the Romans developed a complex society and pioneered cultural advances that ultimately affected life all over the world, even today. During this time a new religion called Christianity arose and gradually spread throughout the entire Roman world. We will conclude with the collapse of the Empire and the events and conditions that led to it.
